My Aunt

Did you watch the movie The Sixth Sense? Do you remember the kid who has the so called sixth sense? Have you ever met such people in person? Well I have met two with this kind of gift or curse! And both are my relatives, good thing it's not hereditary.

One is my father's dad and the other one is my mom's younger sister. I never did hear my grandfather talk about this. And we can't see each other much because he lives in a farm very far away from us. We only learned that he has this gift through my dad's stories.

My dad always has this story about flying corpse and fairies. On the other hand my aunt lives near our house so she's always with us. And she's always our baby sitter whenever my mom and dad went out. When I was little I thought that all of my aunt's stories are just made up, something to scare us to sleep. Later I discovered that it was all true.

My most favorite experience she told me was about the white lady that she always sees at their house when they were about my age. She always sees the girl crying at their stairs. At first she's really afraid of the ghost; she sometimes pretends she can't see her.

Eventually she got use to it and realized she got nothing to be afraid of because it's not hurting her. She then tried talking to the ghost and she learned that the girl was raped and that she can't remember where she's supposed to go. So she just stayed at my aunt's house.

This was also the story that proved she could really see the ghost. Because her neighbors could also see the girl at the house when nobody's home. And later they would find out that it wasn't my aunt or it wasn't human. When my mom and dad slept there one night, my dad woke up in the middle of the night seeing what he thought a white sheet hanging at the window. Later he found out that it was the lady my aunt keeps on telling us about. My father never went back to my aunt's house again. We have asked my aunt to let a priest bless the house but she refused. She told us that this spirit isn't doing anything wrong so we should just leave her be.

Having a relative with this gift is not easy especially when you're always with them. My aunt always share's what she sees whenever she can see a ghost. And sometimes she would tell me that it's beside you or it's looking at you. Then I would immediately feel goose bumps.

Like we don't need to know stuff like that, right?! But I still like hanging out with my aunt. It also has some advantages especially when you've lost a loved one. My aunt's husband died years ago and she can still see him visiting her during their special day. And it's really cool being able to know that there is really life after death.
